What these numbers don’t explain is how Twitter is useful. I’ve found the site to be hugely helpful for networking. You can find important people in your industry and in your city, and then you can build relationships with them.

Edison Research also recently released some interesting stats about our social habits. The following are a few findings that help show why social media and business need to mesh together:
- The majority of Americans 12+ have a profile on one or more social networks.
- Approximately 46 million Americans 12+ check social media several times per day.
- One in four social network users willingly follow brands, products and services.
